The bears in the Sanctuary woke up and welcome the spring

The biological clock of the bears who live in the sanctuary of ARCTURUS was synchronized with the official beginning of the springtime, since most of them started to wake up from their hibernation.

So, on this Saturday, 21st of March, day in which spring officially enters, the Brown Bear Sanctuary in Nymfaion opens its doors again for the visitors.

As it happens every year happened this year as well, meaning that the first bears who woke up were the two brothers, Manolis and Kiriakos, who also happen to be the two youngest bears. Barbara also spends most of her time outside her nest, while the rest of the bears start exiting as well the place where they spent their winter.

The only bear remaining in her nest is Tasoula.

Most of the bears seem nonchalant and their appetite to eat has not come back yet, which is normal since they just woke up from their hibernation.

Visitors can visit the Sanctuary daily (except for Wednesdays) and also on weekends 10:00-16:30, starting this Saturday 21st of March. (Tour schedule: 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 16:30). The other two spaces of the environmental center will also be open every weekend and vacation day; the Wolf Sanctuary in Agrapidies, Florina (Working hours 10:00-16:30) and the Information Center for the Bear in Nikeios School of Nymfaion.
